Denton ISD overview
The Denton Independent School District operates twenty-three elementary schools, seven middle schools, and five high schools. These thirty-five schools are attended by approximately 28,400 students who live in Denton, Argyle, Aubrey, Bartonville, Copper Canyon, Corinth, Double Oak, Flower Mound, Lantana, Little Elm, Prosper and Shady Shores.
Denton ISD's composite 2017 Texas Education Agency (TEA) student achievement index is 79.7. The student achievement index is the percentage of total student assessments for all subjects tested that meet or exceed the TEA State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) achievement standards. Like all other DFW area school districts, Denton ISD's 2017 TEA accountability rating is Met Standard, the top district and campus rating awarded.
Three of its campuses attained a student achievement index between 90 and 100, fifteen between 80 and 89, twelve between 70 and 79, and the student achievement index of five campuses is between 60 and 69.
Eight Denton ISD schools are attended by students who reside in the north Dallas suburbs profiled on this website.
